According to a report by Korean media outlet TV Chosun, two Chinese women were arrested early Thursday after allegedly trespassing into the Yongsan-gu, Seoul dormitory of Big Hit Music’s newest boy group, CORTIS. Police responded around 2 a.m. to a call from the group’s manager, who reported that a package left outside the unit had been torn open and the front door left ajar. Officers located the women on another floor of the apartment building. The pair told investigators they had purchased the address through social media but denied damaging any packages or entering the residence. The complex maintains external-entry restrictions and on-site security, yet the incident still occurred.
CORTIS, Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho debuted in August 2025 as Big Hit Music’s first new boy group in six years and the label’s third after BTS and TXT. Positioned as a “young creator crew,” the five members co-write, produce, and choreograph their material. Their debut EP Color Outside the Lines entered the Billboard 200 at No. 15, one of the strongest chart starts for a K-pop debut album, and has surpassed two million cumulative sales. The group has drawn comparisons to their seniors while carving a distinct free-spirited identity. Privacy invasions have shadowed K-pop for years; a similar case last year involved a Chinese woman arrested for repeatedly trying the door code at BTS member Jungkook’s home. Big Hit recently also reported GPS trackers and hired vehicles following CORTIS during overseas schedules.
International fans reacted with a mix of anger and concern on X. Many called the episode “terrifying” and urged stronger protection for the young members, noting the 2 a.m. timing made the intrusion especially unsettling.
Posts highlighted frustration that addresses continue to circulate on social platforms and expressed hope that CORTIS will relocate or receive tighter security. Some fans linked the incident to broader patterns of sasaeng behavior targeting HYBE artists, while others simply wished the members safety and rest.
